Bangla Power Ministry Renewable initiatives

Government has plans to enhance national power generation capacity to 16000 MW by 2015.

Expected generation from renewable sources are expected to be at least 800 MW as envisioned in National Renewable Energy Policy.

However, estimated output per unit of renewable energy based installed capacity is far less than conventional power plants.

Therefore, in order to achieve a dependable generation of 800 MW, installed capacity of renewable energy based power should be at least 1000-1200 MW. Moreover, considering a proven resources as of date, solar power should dominate in the renewable energy development initiative.
